Old School Bus In Motion

So I have tell you this story. Was doing a little photo out and about cruising in West Boulder County, Colorado. ward to Rollinsville. I love living in the plains with a view the foothills and the Rocky Mountains Continental Divide snow dusted. But I have to have my mountains time. It is nice to look up there and then drive to what you can see in about 40 minute.

So I did a loop and ended up at Mud lake trail head at Caribou Ranch NW of Nederland. I pull in and see this old rusted out School bus sticking out of the pine tree forest. This is the shot I had in my head. As I start photograph this wild looking old rusted out bus that is about 8,000 ft in the rocky mountains above Boulder, Colorado... a father and very young son were sitting in the back of this having fun. So as I took some other images as I waited for my turn to spend time with this bus of past times. I would have loved to do a shoot with the father and son but then we are talking model releases and such. This was pleasure shooting for me.

As I was talking images of the old rusted out school bus, a real live bus of children pulled up from a local school and parked at the trailhead. And as I was talking these shots I could hear children laughing and screaming and having a good time with nature as kids do. I was starting to wonder if they were waiting for me to come to this old bus but as I went on with my session they headed up to hike the trail to Mud lake at Caribou Open space, Boulder County. This really made this image come alive. This is from sitting and the back row of the bus looking out the front window. Hope you like the different versions of this image. Color, HDR , Black and White and Sepia. My ride back to Boulder / Longmont I came down Coal Creek Canyon. If you are not in a hurry and don't mind 15 mile an hour bends what a great ride.
